We attended a total of 6 birthday parties in March and the last one we went to had a bird show! My daughter is wearing a dress from India. It's too bad the details can't be seen in the picture, but the dress has miniature bells and mirrors all over the dress. It's very festive. She didn't want to wear her jacket, but it was really chilly out.

Kewpie mayonnaise.

This is the only mayonnaise we have in our house. I finally convereted my husband and now he too is a Kewpie fan. Really, there is no other. It's got a more tangy flavor than American mayonnaise. Good for sandwiches and veggie dips too!

Surigoma which I use for gomaae. This particular brand my mom picked up for me in Japan.

To make the gomaae you need:

1 tablespoon of sake

1 tablespoon of sugar

2 tablespoons ground sesame

1 tablespoon of soysauce

Mix together and toss with 1 bunch of par boiled spinach, green beans, or other vegetables.

This is furikake which is usually just added on top of plain rice.

This is flavoring specifically for onigiri.

There is a higher concentration of flavor and salt added to the onigiri packets since you are to mix this into the rice versus just sprinkling on top like furikake. I usually use the orange package one, but was coerced into buying the pink Ribbon-chan one last time I went shopping with the girl.
